New Regulation permits moving during lockdown stage 4.

A regulation signed on the 6th of May 2020 and published in Government Gazette 43293 Notice No. 513, permits movement of persons and goods (relocation) during stage 4 of the National lockdown, however only in certain circumstances.

The regulation permits the movement of persons and goods in two circumstances. The first being where a new lease agreement was entered into before or during the lockdown and the second where the transfer of immovable property occurred before the lockdown period and in these circumstances require a change in place of residence, including the transport of goods to a new place of residence. These directions permit the movement across provincial, metropolitan or district boundaries.

A person who needs to move and transport goods under these circumstances will be able to do so for a period of one month, from 7 May 2020 to 7 June 2020. Such a person will need to obtain a permit to travel across said boundaries from the station commander of a police station or a person designated by the station commander. If you wish to make use of these directions, you will need to indicate all persons who are part of the household who will be required to move and present the relevant documentation.

The regulations refer to the relevant lease agreement indicating the date of expiry of the old lease agreement and the date of commencement of the new lease agreement or the transfer documents attesting to the change in place of residence or change of ownership of property.
