MJS Attorneys and COVID-19 Lockdown in South Africa.

Dear clients, agents and colleagues,

Amid the unprecedented times, we have received many questions about the operation of our firm. The answer to most of them is, unfortunately, “We don’t know” …

But here is what we do know,

Our firm will close from Thursday at 16:30, like most other businesses in our sector. The deeds office has already indicated a complete shutdown until 16 April 2020 as such no deeds will be registered during this time. Until the 26th of March certain arrangements have been put in place, if this might affect your transaction, please contact our office for clarity in this regard. Although no clear directives have been received from other governmental organs, we presume this will the case for them as well.

We are in a privileged position to work in a sector that revolves around people. In order to take any transaction forward, we need the cooperation of numerous parties, kind of like a beehive. We are not sure what municipalities, banks, SARS and other law firms will do during this time. Our personnel, however, will be working from home as far as reasonably possible and assist as far as we can. Please note that our landline will be unattended and we would like to encourage you to contact us via e-mail at stone@mjsbloem.co.za or taljaard@mjsbloem.co.za, as these addresses will be monitored throughout.

Unfortunately, a delay on most transactions is inevitable and beyond our control. We are available during this time to answer any questions, give quotations and accept new instructions.

We pledge our full support to the leadership of our country during this time and commend all South Africans for their positive moral despite many challenges.

Stay in contact!
